The 29th Annual Garden Tour benefiting Mt. Lebanon Public Library will be held on Sunday, July 14, 2019, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. This year’s tour will feature six distinctive Mt. Lebanon private gardens, the Community Gardens at Mt. Lebanon Golf Course, and the beautiful Butterfly Garden at Washington Elementary School.
Since our first tour in 1991, the Garden Tour has been a source of over $564,000 in funds for those extra things that make a library special, such as the outdoor courtyard, equipment for the Maker’s Space, and has provided books, audio-visual materials, magazines, programs, and technology for patrons of all ages. Proceeds from the previous 28 Garden Tours have helped to expand the new library and to build the outdoor courtyard, and have provided books, audio-visual materials, magazines, programs, and technology for patrons of all ages.
This year we will use the proceeds for materials, programs, supplies, and improvements to the building. Our library is the center of the community and experiences heavy use. Proceeds from the Garden Tour support essential public services. The tour will run from 11am-4pm on Sunday, July 14, rain or shine. Ticket cost is $15 and includes all the gardens. Be sure to visit our plant sale (held at the library) and the Friends Book Cellar as well. For the 15th year, the Library Board of Trustees will host our pre-tour event in the Library Courtyard. This year’s event – “Stardust Swing” - will feature Steel City Calypso, tasty treats, champagne cocktails and will be held from 7-9 pm on Saturday, July 13. Tickets for the Garden Tour will go on sale on May 30, 2019 at the circulation desk at the library and on Showclix.com.
*Program booklets will be available at the library toward the end of June, and on the day of the tour at any of the garden locations.
