Our summer schedule

Mother Goose - 3 sessions per year

Preschool - 3 sessions per year
(3 ½ to 6 years)
Sign Language - Spring and Autumn
(6 months to 4 years with an adult)
Sensory Storytime - Spring and Autumn
(18 months – 3 years with an adult)
Foreign Language - Chinese, French or Spanish
(3 - 6 years with an adult)
(for ages preschool to grade 8)
Battle of the Books -Team reading & fun tournaments for kids entering grades 4, 5 & 6.
Concerts in the Courtyard –Music for all ages.

Chess Club -
Chess fun for children in kindergarten through grade 7. (year round)
Chess Lessons – For children in grades 1 and up. (January)
Chess Tournament - (February)
Storytime Kits
Designed for nursery schools, daycare centers, and home daycares these kits include books, finger plays, songs, reproducible handouts and puppets. Kits may be reserved in advance and circulate for three weeks. On the online catalog, do a title search under "Storytime Kit" for a complete listing.
Book Bags for Special Days
We will create a personalized bag of fun with books, CDs, videos, magazines and books on tape for your visiting grandchildren, sick children, vacation trips, or babysitting adventure. Please call at least 24 hours in advance for Vacation Bags and Grandparent Bags. 412.531.1913
Express Bags
No time to look for books? Just stop at the children's desk to pick up a bag of 5 pre-selected books geared to your child's age.
Born to Read
Bring a photo of you baby (1 year and younger) to the library and receive a free baby reader starter kit!
Warm Up America
Ask at the Children's Desk for instructions to contribute knitted or crocheted squares for the Warm Up America project.
Internet Classes
Learn tips and tricks to get around the Internet.
These classes are offered on a continuing basis and are geared to one student at a time. For all ages. Please call to arrange a time. 412.531.1912
Display Cases
Share your favorite things with the community! Bring in your special collection to display for a month in one of our secure display cases. Please call 412.531.1913 to be added to our waiting list of collectors.
